Imported by Colt and manufactured by J.P. Sauer & Son in Germany, this Drilling features solid rib barrels with scope rings, wide blade front sight and folding leaf rear sight on the solid matte rib. Shotgun barrels marked full/modified now have a choke tube system (5 choke tubes are included) and 2 3/4 inch chambers. Engraved scalloped box lock action with high relief game scenes of running buck deer in a wooded scene on the left side and an elk in a wooded scene on the right. Scroll engraving on the bottom and trigger guard. The top of the left barrel is marked "COLT - SAUER" flanked by the circled Rampant Colt and Sauer logo/MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY/BY J. P. SAUER & SOHN/12/70. .243 WIN" and the right side is marked "MOD. 3000/KRUPP - SPEZIAL LAUFSTAHL/COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Has a tang barrel selector that raises the rib leaf sight when pushed forward to select the rifle barrel. The front trigger is a set trigger. Has a Greener side safety and cocking indicators. Checkered beaver tail forearm and pistol grip stock with black plastic grip cap, a solid leather covered Kick-Eez recoil pad and sling swivels. Length of pull is 14 3/8 inches. Discontinued by Colt in 1985.

Condition: Excellent. The barrels retain 95% original blue finish showing some thinning to a plum. The receiver has only the slightest handling marks. The wood is also excellent with a couple minor surface chips missing and a few minor handling marks with overall crisp checkering.
