Excellent Eickhorn Production Senior Forester's Knife with Sheath

Predating the rise of the Nazi party, the knife of the State Forest Service (Staatsforstdienst) served as a badge of honor and rank, with ivory and white celluloid grips reserved for senior officials and Foresters. Measuring 14 3/4 inches overall, with a 10 inch blade bearing the Eickhorn logo on the left ricasso, etched hunting scenes on each side, and oak leaves on the spine. See pages 57 & 58 (top) in Vol. III of the Tom Johnson Dagger Series book for an example of the same model and blade etch patterns. The hilt is silver finished, with an engraved grouse on the clamshell, an upturned stag hoof rear quillion, oak leaves and another stag hoof on the guard, and a pair of smooth artificial ivory grip panels with nickel finished oak leaf and acorn accents, 3 on each side. The sheath is black leather, with a raised acorn frog stud and an engraving of a bugling elk on the tip.
