The forearm cap, receiver, hammer and lever are casehardened. The stock and forearm are straight grain American walnut. The barrel has a sporting style front sight with nickel silver blade and sporting style buckhorn rear sight. The upper tang is factory drilled and tapped for a rear sight. The top barrel flat is roll-stamped with the two-line Winchester legend "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/-WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-" ahead of the rear sight. "38-56 W.C.F." is stamped on the top barrel flat at the breech. "-MODEL 1886-" is roll-stamped on the upper receiver tang. Excellent. The rifle is all original and retains nearly 95% of the original blue and casehardened finish. The blue finish on the barrel and magazine shows only very minor edge wear. 90% of the blue finish on the bolt remains. The buttplate has some rust on the heel and scattered surface discoloration and retains about 40% of the blue finish. The loading gate has a mottled gray patina. The receiver has 85% plus vivid case colors. The case colors on the hammer and lever are subdued but remain 90%. The markings on the barrel and receiver are crisp. The stock and forearm are in excellent overall, wear is limited to a few scattered, minor, handling marks. This is an excellent example of a special order Winchester Model 1886 Rifle with desirable features and casehardened receiver.
