Manufactured on May 6th, 1902 based on research from the Cody Firearms Museum. This excellent Deluxe Winchester Model 1894 Rifle features special order half octagon barrel, close set double set triggers, Lyman sights and deluxe checkered pistol grip stock. The top barrel flat is marked with the two line address ahead of the rear sight, the left rear flat is marked with the two line nickel steel/smokeless powder marking and the top flat at the breech is marked "30 W.C.F.". The left rear upper flat is marked with a London provisional proof followed by ".300" (upside down), and there is a "crown/V" proof on the left side of the receiver ring. The serial number is marked on the bottom front of the receiver. The barrel is fitted with a Lyman combination folding globe sight and a two leaf folding rear sight. There is a tang mounted short range Lyman cup disc peep sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer, lever and buttplate. There is a hard rubber Winchester grip cap on the stock. The accompanying factory letter verifies the rifle configuration, 30 caliber, 1/2 octagon barrel, set trigger, checkered pistol grip stock, Lyman combination front and rear cup disc sights, 1/2 magazine, that it was received in the warehouse on May 23, 1902 and shipped on order number 9586, May 24, 1902. The rifle comes with a copy of the book "Winchester An American Legend" by R.L. Wilson and a 33 inch by 34 inch nicely framed and matted print of the Winchester cowboy done by Phillip Goodwin (see image).

Condition: Excellent. The rifle retains 90% original blue finish with a three inch long area of light pitting and smooth brown patina on the top right receiver, and some thinning and a few minor dings on the barrel. The loading gate retains 50% nitre blue. The hammer and lever retain most of the bright original case colors and the buttplate has a smooth mottled brown and gray patina. The wood is also excellent with most of the original varnish remaining and showing some scattered minor dings and handling marks, with crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The book and print are excellent.
