This is an excellent example of a early first year model 1914 military contract Luger pistol. This 1914 model Luger pistol was to become the standard model configuration that would be produced until 1942, when production ended. The pistols have a hand-polished rust blued finish with the various small parts straw colored. The top of the barrel extension is dated 1914, the toggle is marked "DWM", the right side of the barrel extension has the three Crown over Script proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. The Imperial Eagle proof is also stamped on the top of the barrel and left side of the breechblock and the underside of the barrel is marked with the bore diameter of "8,83". The underside of the barrel, the front of the frame and the left side of the barrel extension all have the matching full three digit serial number (682), with the last two digits (82) marked on the various small parts. The safety and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN", respectively. The sights are a fixed inverted "v" front sight with the standard notched rear sight. As noted it has it's all original WWI finish with checkered walnut grips. It is currently fitted with a nickel plated magazine with a wooden base that is marked with serial number "238l" with no other proofs.
BBL: 4 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue/straw
Grips: walnut checkered
Serial Number: 682c
Condition: Excellent overall with 97% plus of the original blued finish overall with a hint of wear around the edges of the muzzle, the very front edge of the side plate hump (a slight ding present), and the front edge of the frame rails. The small parts retain 60% of their straw colors. The grips are also in excellent condition overall with just some light wear across the very tops of some of the checkering with no noticeable handling marks or pressure dents. The only noticeable detractor is that directly under the safety lever, there is a small piece of wood absent. The pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine. A nice example of an early 1914 DWM Military Luger pistol.
