Excellent Colt Model 1902 (Military) Semi-Automatic Pistol

Original Colt Model 1902 Military pistol manufactured in 1919. This was the first successful Colt semi-automatic pistol and can be distinguished from the sporting model based on this one having a square butt; slide lock on the left side of the slide and a lanyard swivel on the lower left side of the frame. The slide is roll-stamped "PATENTED/APR.20,1897.SEPT.9,1902" in a two-line block followed by "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO./HARTFORD, CT.U.S.A." in a second, two-line block. The markings use the later style block letters. The Rampant Colt trademark is stamped behind the slide serrations on the left side of the slide. The right side of the slide is marked "AUTOMATIC COLT/CALIBRE 38 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" ahead of the ejection port. This model has the grip serrations on the rear of the slide and a spur hammer. The pistol has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish with a polished chamber and muzzle area on the barrel and casehardened hammer. The serial number is stamped on the left side of the frame above the trigger guard. The left side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "1" assembler's mark above the Colt "VP/triangle" proofmark. The right side of the trigger guard bow is stamped with a "48" inspection number. The magazine floor plate is marked "MIL./COLT/38 CAL.".

Finish: blue
Grips: hard rubber

Very fine with 70% plus of the faded original Colt blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear on the slide and front end of the frame and thinning and browning on the grip straps. The brown hard rubber grips are excellent with nice distinct checkering and markings. This is a very fine original Colt Military Model 1902 semi-automatic pistol.
