Excellent Colt Government Model Semi-Automatic Pistol
According to the included photocopy of the factory letter, this Government Model pistol was part of a 50-piece order shipped to Shapleigh Hardware Company on 3 March 1920. The letter also confirms finish, barrel length and caliber. Fixed sights, with the left side of the slide marked "PATENTED APR.20, 1897. SEPT. 9, 1902 / DEC.19, 1905. FEB.14, 1911. AUG.19, 1913" in two lines followed by "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.", bisected by the Rampant Colt, with "COLT AUTOMATIC / CALIBRE 45" ahead of the ejection port on the right side. Marked "GOVERNMENT MODEL" over the serial number, "92" on the right side of the trigger guard and "W/ VP" on the left side. Wide hammer, long trigger, short beavertail and smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard staple. Checkered grips with diamond panels around the screws and a two tone unmarked magazine.
