Excellent Civil War Maynard Single Shot Percussion Carbine

This is an excellent example of a Second Model carbine manufactured by the Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts from 1863 to 1865. The left side of the receiver is stamped with the four line Maynard patent date marking and the right side has the three line Massachusetts Arms address. Lower tang has the serial number and "1865". "S" is stamped on some of the components with "N" on the left side of the rear sight. Pinched blade front sight and three leaf rear sight graduated to 500 yards, with a saddle ring bar with ring on the left side of the receiver. Mounted with a smooth oiled walnut straight grip stock with an iron carbine buttplate and stamped with two clear cartouches ("GWL" and "AM") on the left wrist.

Excellent. The barrel retains 97% original blue finish showing some mild thinning. The buttplate has a mottled brown patina. The hammer, receiver and lever retain 90% plus darkened original case colors. The stock is also excellent with a few minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
