Excellent Cased Smith & Wesson Second Model Single Shot Pistol
Manufactured from 1905 to 1909, this is an early production Second Model. Approximately 4600 Second Models were manufactured. The top of the barrel rib is marked with the split two line address and patent dates flanked by maltese crosses and with "MODEL OF 91" in the center. The left side of the barrel is marked "22 LONG RIFLE CTG." flanked by maltese crosses, the serial number is on the front strap and the small S&W logo is on the rear side of the frame. Pinned blade front and square notch fixed rear sights, blue finish with casehardened trigger, trigger guard and hammer and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with S&W logo at the top. A barrel weight has been added to the bottom of the barrel. Complete in a pebble grain leather case with purple velvet lining and cleaning brush.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 99% of the original bright blue finish with some light wear on the muzzle and a few light scuffs and handling marks. The trigger guard, trigger and hammer retain virtually all of the original case colors, slightly fading on the trigger guard. The bright blue finish on the barrel weight is flaking and 30% remains. The grips are also excellent with a few light handling marks and sharp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some heavy wear on the exterior and some contact wear and mild stains on the lining.
