Excellent 1913 Dated World War I Erfurt Model 1908 Military Contract Luger Pistol

This is a late production, first issue, Model 1908 Military contract Luger pistol, manufactured by the Erfurt Arsenal. These Model 1908 Lugers were the first military contract Luger pistols produced from 1908 to 1913 and are identified by the lack of the stock lug on the rear of the grip strap, and were usually manufactured without a hold open device. The top of the chamber area is stamped "1913" and it has the standard Erfurt marking on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the three standard "Crown/script letter" proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof. It is numbered in the military fashion with the frame, left side of the barrel extension and underside of the barrel correctly stamped with the full serial number and the remaining small parts are stamped with only the last two digits "07" of the serial number, with many of the parts also being stamped with the typical "Crown/script letter" and/or "RC" Erfurt inspector proofs. This Luger is fitted with one nickel-plated, wooden base magazine that is marked with "Crown/D/598/a/Crown/script letter".

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish overall, with just minor edge and high spot wear overall. The various small parts retain 80% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in excellent condition with both sides having nice distinct checkering with the checkering on the right side having some scattered dings overall. This pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above. A nice example of a 1908 Erfurt Military Contract Luger Pistol.
