Excellent 1912 Production U.S. Colt Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol
Manufactured in 1912. The left side of the slide is marked in two line blocks "PATENTED APR. 20,1897 / SEPT. 9, 1902, DEC. 19, 1905, FEB.14, 1911" and "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. / HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." with the Rampant Colt behind the serrations. Correct rounded rear sight with corresponding thin blade front sight. The left side of the frame is marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" and with the "WGP" inspection mark, the right side of the frame is marked with the serial number and "MODEL OF 1911 U.S. ARMY" on the left side of the slide. Checkered slide stop, thumb safety, magazine release and hammer spur with a smooth trigger and backstrap. Blue barrel and unmarked, later production replacement magazine, and fitted with checkered walnut grips with diamond pattern around the screws.

Condition: Excellent. The pistol retains 95% plus original finish with some high edge wear on the slide and forward portion of the frame, some thinning to smooth brown and scattered pitting on the grip straps, some minor spotting on the right side of the frame and overall minor scratches and handling marks. The grips are excellent with a few scattered minor bruises and dings, and crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. This early production Colt Model 1911 would make a wonderful addition to any U.S. military or Colt collection.
