Excellent 1889 Dated U.S. Springfield Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle

This is an excellent example of an 1889 production Model 1884 Trapdoor rifle. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the "V/P/eagle head", with a "P" below the marking and an "A" on the top of the barrel. The top of the breechblock is marked "US/MODEL/1884". The lock is the correct late three click tumbler version that is marked with the American Eagle and "U.S./ SPRINGFIELD". Two-piece trigger guard, buttplate without a trap, and long range Buffington rear sight adjustable for windage and elevation and a blade front sight. The stock is the correct full length version marked with a boxed script "SWP" over "1889" cartouche on the left wrist and a circles script "P" behind the detachable metal trigger guard. The rifle is complete with an original cleaning rod.

Excellent with 98% plus of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear. The breechblock and breech plug retain 95% plus of the original case colors, with fiery colors in the protected areas. The stock is also excellent with a nice dark color overall with a couple of minor light pressure dents on the forend area. The cartouche and firing proof is clear and distinct. An excellent high condition late trapdoor rifle.
