Ghani Bahadur of Banda became the first Maratha governor of Saharanpur, succeeded by Bhairon Pant Tantia in 1791. Following the death of Mahadji Sindhia in 1794, his viceroy Gopal Bhau appointed Bhairon Pant Tantia to Saharanpur. The Nagari word "Tant or Tat" on this coin might be connected to him.
