Note: After successfully capturing Saurashtra, Mahmud I solidified his control over the Sultanate of Gujarat by acquiring Champanir and Junagarh. This achievement earned him the moniker 'Begada,' where 'Be' in Gujarati signifies two, and 'Gad'/'Garh' means fort. The historian Sikandar Manjhoo explains this nickname in his book "Mira'at-i-Sikandari." The conquest of Champanir occurred on November 21,1484, following a 20-month siege. Mahmud dedicated the next two decades to enhancing and modifying the city. Additionally, he founded a new city named Muhammadabad at the base of Pavagadh hill, often referred to as 'Shahr-i-Mukarram' or 'the venerable city.'
