Jahangir (AH 1014-1037 /1605-1627 AD), Agra Mint, Silver Zodiac Rupee, AH 1028, 'Taurus' sign, Corresponding to Ilahi Month Ardibihisht, Obv: Taurus (bull) to the left surmounted by the sun's rays within the double circle, Rev: Persian legend "Sikka-e-Agra dad zeenat-e-zar az Jahangir Shah Akbar Shah", 10.79g, 20.42mm, (Unlisted in KM)), some scratches, about very fine, Exceedingly Rare.
Note: The traditional zodiac rupee where the bull is seen seated was struck from the dies prepared for striking the silver rupee (see next lot), but this type where the bull is seen standing was struck from the dies which was prepared for striking gold mohurs.
