Important gyroscope package built by famed rocket engineer Bob Truax for one of Evel Knievel's Skycycle X-2 rocket bikes, measuring 9Àù x 9Àù x 9Àù, featuring a cylindrical vertical gyro ("Amount Gyro, 817100, Western Electric GA-110119, Serial No. W-114403") and a square rate gyro (hand-marked "Pitch"), mounted together on an aluminum bracket. Both were government surplus from a Nike missile, and have parts of the cases trimmed to better fit into the Skycycle. In very good to fine condition.

Three Skycycle X-2s were custom-built by Bob Truax for Evel Knievel. The first two were used for test flights, and the third was used in his historic attempt to jump the Snake River in Idaho on September 8, 1974. The vehicle's parachute deployed during launch, causing the stunt to fail. Which X-2 this unit derives from is unknown. The consignor notes that the piece was given to him by Bob Truax.
