Evans Model 1826 Reconverted Flintlock Navy Pistol

Manufactured by W.L. Evans of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. This pistol is one of less than approximately 1,000 manufactured by Evans in 1830-31. These pistols were identical to the Simeon North Model 1826. The lock is marked "W.L. EVANS/V. FORGE" ahead of the hammer and "1831/USN" behind the hammer. A "P" is visible on top of the barrel at the breech. Brass blade front and oval shaped dished rear sights, All iron mountings, brass flash pan, button head swivel ramrod, full back strap extending to the butt cap and mounted with a full smooth walnut stock with "C1/P" stamped on the upper left rear and a belt hook mounted on the left flat.

Condition: Fair as reconverted to flintlock with a grayish patina and minor pitting on the metal surfaces. Where the bolster was mounted on the barrel is evident by the repair made. The stock has had a break repaired in the upper grip area and it has been sanded and refinished in the same area. A crack is visible extending around the stock. The action is weak, but functions. The markings are clear.
