European carved ivory handled trousse or knife and fork set circa 1600’s-1700’s, both approx. 9” overall with two prong fork and rounded blade knife with two star hallmark; the carved ivory handles show two different erotic poses of a man and woman; the knife’s handle shows a mellow patina with a small age crack that extends from the hilt upward approx. halfway up the grip; the fork ivory handle also has a pleasing patina and also shows a slight age crack from the hilt upward approx. 1” in a “V” formation. A well-accomplished early carved set, possibly Mastrich, Holland where this type ivory carving was popular in the 17th and 18th centuries. Est.: $1,500-$3,000.
