Produced with a fixed brass bead front sight and an dovetailed notch rear sight, with a set of triangular cuts on the top flats at the start of the octagon section, leading to star engraving, and a sighting groove marked with proofs on either side at the breech. The lock shows a spiral engraved accent behind the wheel, which has a full coverage protective brass plate engraved with a scene of a small bird in a field in bloom, two small figures rendered in brass, depicting a bird and a bat with human heads, scroll engraved hammer spring and a sliding pan cover. Straight wire trigger, with a lightly engraved finger rest trigger guard. Smooth straight grip stock, with extensive carved bone pattern inlays, showing scale patterns on the forearm tip, ramrod port and ramrod head, alternating scroll decorated diamonds and floral and shell pattern discs down the sides of the forearm, additional floral and shell discs around the lock, scrollwork and a fruit layout on the patch box, and a large semi-rectangular panel on the raised cheekpiece, with scale pattern borders around "crown/ CA". This marking has not yet been identified.

Condition: Very good, with a mixed gray patina on the steel, dings on the muzzle, along with some areas of brown patina and mild spotting. Stock is also very good, with exception of some cracks and mended chips, 3 escutcheon pins absent, and an absent chip leading to a long crack immediately below the lock plate. The bone sections are fine, with exception of a replaced section on the comb and a mended chip on the patch box. Buttplate is loose. Mechanically untested.
