Napoleonic Wars Era European (Likely Dutch) Fullstock Flintlock Musket, NVSN, .75 cal., 39.5'' barrel with brass blade front sight (integral with double-strap top barrel band) and simple grooved rear sight; large iron lockplate with teat at rear; brass furniture including triggerguard with sling swivel mounted at front of loop and a long rear tang, serpentine sideplate, heavy buttplate with long top tang; oval plaque at wrist marked ''No 1418'', and three spring-retained barrel bands (middle with sling swivel); tulip-head iron ramrod; hardwood fullstock having nicely carved aprons at either side of lock and at top barrel tang. Condition is good+, the steel parts with a cleaned gunmetal gray color, heavy black powder pitting at barrel breech, original markings illegible, the brass with cleaned patina. Stock is solid with the expected scuffs and marks of age and military use, losses at top edges along barrel (particularly on right side), and a later coat of varnish. Frizzen spring and screw are modern replacements. Musket appears to be in original flintlock configuration, with unbushed touchhole. Action is extremely stout; smoothbore is fairly clean showing moderate rust. Est.: $800-$1,200. (Antique)
