Eugenia Calvo is a contemporary Argentinian artist, who questions the two-dimensionality of the medium photography and creates artwork of optical illusion

This photographic work of the Argentinian artist Eugenia Calvo from the series ‘EL DRAMA DE LA VICTORIA’ from 2004 depicts an interior with a ripped off wallpaper, seeming to be the photo paper itself that is torn. Thereby, the artist breaks up the rules of the two-dimensional medium photography, creating an optical illusion. The artist places the focus of her main work on the questioning of daily objects, which she stages in installations and videos.



The C-print is laminated on synthetic board and sealed with acrylic glass. The acrylic glass shows some small scratches, one corner is minimally nudged. The work is besides that in very good condition. The dimensions are 24.2 x 24.2 cm.



Eugenia Calvo (b. 1976)

Eugenia Calvo, a Fine Art graduate of the School of Humanities and Arts of the Universidad Nacional de Rosario in Argentina, works with the medium photography. She has participated in numerous international exhibitions in Europe, the US and South America, group as well as solo exhibitions. She was awarded with the 1. Petrobras art prize (2006) and with the Cifo Grants and commission program to emerging contemporary artists from Latin America (2010). The artist lives and works in Rosario, Argentina. (tm)
