Gorham Press, Boston, 168pp, original boardsAn extremely interesting and historical copy of this first book by the Nobel laureate. Signed and with the unattributed first stanza of Exchanges by Ernest Dowson in the hand of O'Neill on the front pastedown. Signed on the free front endpaper by Louise Bryant and dated 1916. Another note in the hand of Bryant states that Thirst was "as played by the Provincetown Players, Provincetown, Mass. Summer 1916" with George Cram Cook playing the role of 'A Gentleman', Bryant playing 'A Dancer' and O'Neill playing 'A West Indian Mulatto Sailor'. Numerous further notes and amendments in pencil throughout for the purpose of producing the play.
