"Ethel Waters" by Antonio Salemme (1892-1995, Italian/American). Solid bronze on wooden base. Measurements: 12 inches bronze (16.5 inches total height). Actual bust is 100% life-size. Ca. 1927 (recast in 1992). An identical bust is in Yale University's world reknowned Beinecke Libray Art Collection.

Note: winning bidder/purchaser will be provided with the Swann Galleries, Inc. gallery catalogue which features the exquisite, museum-worthy bust, the Yale University Beinecke Library art publication in which the bust is cited and a most rare post card of the bust! In the post card, the bust is photographed by famous photographer Carl Van Vechten and signed by him on verso. Salemme, a sculptor and painter who was renowned in the 1930's for his sculptures, including his controversial nude sculpture of Paul Robeson, possibly his most famous and controversial sculpture. His work is inluded in the permanent collectios of the followin gmajor art museums:
