Escape From L.A. Severed Hand Prop
In the future, according to writer-director John Carpenter and his film "Escape From L.A." (1996), the most powerful man in Los Angeles, most likely will be the Surgeon General of Beverly Hills, who will have a lab filled with body parts to give to rich patrons whose own "parts" have worn out, or whose body's are turning to jelly because of old plastic surgery now gone bad. Unfortunately Snake (Kurt Russell), and his sexy street smart side-kick Taslima (Valeria Golino) are captured by the Surgeon's thugs, so that he could harvest their young and healthy body parts. This is a realistic hand and forearm screen used in this sequence. It, as well as most of the other body parts in the lab, were crafted by legendary Special Effects Make Up Artist Andrea Le Vine. They come from her personal collection and include her Letter of Provenience. Hand and forearm, including exposed bone are approx 14".
