Day command orders No. 51 from Oberst Rommel, serving as commander of Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt, in part (translated): 1. Command (I): Army sports teacher Dieck is commanded to do his exercise for the reserves from 24.06—04.08.1939 at J. R. 68 in Brandenburg a. Havel. Day of the outward journey: 23.06.1939, Day of the return journey: 05.08.1939. Sports teacher Groeger will appear in his place. Sergeant Wegenstein will teach at the 'Lehrgruppe A' supervised by sports teacher Groeger. 2. Participation at N. S. D. A. P. county council in Wiener–Neustadt (I): Below mentioned people will stand in for me: 13:30—14:30 h, Common lunch at Gasthaus Witetschke, first floor, Lieutenant Colonel Ritzmann, 18.30 h, Mass rally at Adolf–Hitler–Platz, Colonel Jordan." Prominently signed at the conclusion by Rommel. In fine condition. A little more than a month after signing this order, Rommel was appointed Generalmajor and assigned as commander of the Führerbegleitbrigade battalion with directions to guard Hitler and his field headquarters during the invasion of Poland on the first of September.
