A rare and intriguing numismatic anomaly, this certified blank planchet represents a Type 2 Lincoln Cent that was never struck, resulting in a distinctive U.S. Mint error. The copper planchet bears no date or design elements, preserved exactly as it left the coining chamber prior to striking. The rim is upturned and defined, distinguishing it as a Type 2 planchet, which had already undergone the upsetting process in preparation for minting. Housed in a tamper evident IGS holder for further protection and authentication. Slab measures: 2.25"L x 0.25"W x 3.25"H. Coin diameter: 19.05 mm.
