Eros Magazine Marilyn Monroe Issue #3 1962
In 1962 controversial author, photographer and publisher Ralph Ginzburg published the work he is best known for, the infamous "Eros" magazine. It was unusual on many fronts, including being printed hardbound like a book, with an emphasis on Ginzburg's interest in breaking the mold on love, sex, and sensuality. These beautifully mounted hardcover magazines, with photos and articles by some of the greatest equally controversial talents of the day only had four issues, since Ginzburg was indicted under federal obscenity laws after the fourth issue was published and released. This is a mint condition, in its original shipping box of the most famous and sought after of the four issues, No.3 (Autumn, 1962), which had on its cover proof sheets of pictures of Marilyn Monroe taken by Bert Stern six weeks before her death. Inside is an 18-page photo shoot of these famous Monroe "Last Stand" pictures, along with other pieces that got Ginzburg in trouble, including a large section from "Fanny Hill".
