Ernst Bohne & Sohne Mythological Porcelain Ewer w/ Cherubs & Centaur
An extraordinary Ernst Bohne & Sohne porcelain ewer from Rudolstadt, Thuringia, crafted circa 1910. This masterwork is luxuriously decorated in rich polychrome and highlighted with lavish gilt accents. The open scroll handle is ingeniously formed as a Centaurus figure, while the body and pedestal are adorned with heavily sculpted reliefs of cherubs, mermaids, satyrs, and mythological creatures. The vibrant hand-painted scenes depict playful putti with tridents and conch shells among reeds, while the base is supported by three mermaids with scaled tails. Each detail, from the encrusted seashells to the elaborate florals, reflects the height of German porcelain artistry of the early 20th century. The underside bears the blue underglaze crown over N mark of Ernst Bohne & Sohne.
