Ernest Thesiger Signed Picture from The Robe.
Ernest Thesiger Signed Picture from The Robe. "To a new world of Gods and Monsters!" toasts Ernest Thesiger as Dr. Pretorius, the mad and mincing wizard of James Whale's Bride of Frankenstein. Golden Age Horror fans revere the skeletal, witch-nosed Thesiger (1879-1961) for this charmingly devilish performance, as well as his marvelously macabre Horace Femm in Whale's The Old Dark House. Actually, Thesiger's most lavish Hollywood film was The Robe, in which he played Emperor Tiberius, and this 3.5" x 5.5" postcard features a fine black-and-white study of Thesiger in that memorable role. The actor has signed "Yours sincerely Ernest Thesiger" in blue ink. The post card is unusual, apparently issued as publicity for this 1953 20th Century-Fox epic, the first film in Cinemascope - the card reads "Ernest Thesiger in The Robe" below his picture. The verso has minor residue from having been preserved in an album, but picture and signature are totally clean; overall Very Fine + condition. Thesiger's autograph is scarce in any form - this is a very desirable one, as well as being a souvenir from an historic Hollywood spectacular. Accompanied by LOA from PSA/DNA.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
