Signed book: The Golden Age. First edition, limited issue, numbered 130/275. London: John Lane, The Bodley Head, 1928. Hardcover with slipcase, 6.25 x 9, 166 pages. Signed on the colophon in fountain pen by the author, “Kenneth Grahame,” and illustrator, “Ernest H. Shepard.” In fine condition, with a bookplate affixed to front pastedown, toning to free end pages, and some scuffing at the bottom of the slipcase. Grahame is best known for the children’s classic The Wind in the Willows, which was also illustrated by Shepard although he is better known as the illustrator of Winnie-the-Pooh.
