Bank check, 6.5 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Hemingway, “Ernest W. Hemingway,” payable to Thompson Fish Company for $133.84, March 1, 1932. In very good condition, with cancellation holes and show-through from stamp on reverse affecting signature, a couple light brushes to signature, a bisecting vertical fold one through a single letter of signature, pencil notation to right side, and some light soiling and wrinkling. During his years in Key West Hemingway befriended Charles Thompson, owner of Thompson Fish Company, and they became friends. When Hemingway went on a safari in 1933, Thompson went with him and became the inspiration for the character 'Old Karl' in "Green Hills of Africa." Hemingway and Thompson were great friends for many years up until Hemingway's suicide in 1961. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
