<B>Ernest Hemingway Signature</B></I> "<I>E. Hemingway</B></I>" in ink along with his address "<I>San Francisco de Paula Cuba</B></I>" on a 3" x 1.25" clip excised from a mailing label on an envelope. Hemingway first lived in Cuba during the late 1930s at the Hotel Ambos Mundos. In 1940, he took part of the money he earned by writing <I>For Whom the Bell Tolls</B></I> and purchased a home, the Finca Vigia, in San Francisco de Paula, a suburb of Havana. It was at the Finca that he kept his fishing boat the <I>Pilar</B></I> which would be immortalized in the Nobel Prize winning novel <I>The Old Man and the Sea.</B></I> Cuba would remain his home until the political situation in 1960 forced his move to the United States. His home there is now a museum owned by the Cuban government.
