Vintage matte-finish 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photo of Erich von Stroheim as the title character from the 1929 film The Great Gabbo, signed in the lower border in fountain pen. In fine condition. In the movie, Erich von Stroheim plays the brilliant ventriloquist Gabbo who increasingly uses his dummy ‘Otto’ as his only means of self-expression. The film is notable for having inspired the 1993 The Simpsons episode ‘Krusty Gets Kancelled,’ which features a ventriloquist dummy of the same name.
