Erich Lessing’s photographs are considered as an important contribution to the documentation of the post-war period in Germany. The present vintage press print shows a picture taken in 1958, assembling a group of four people on a park bench and in front of the Airlift Memorial in Berlin. It seems that the constellation of the people was of particular importance to the photographer, since it presents all generations starting with an infant over the boy up to the mother and grandmother.

The photograph is verso stamped with the artist’s stamp ‘ERICH LESSING – MAGNUM Photos’ and the copyright stamp by Magnum Photos, London. Besides, it shows the archive number ‘58-11-4-27‘ on the verso. The lower left corner of the photo paper is minimally creased. The depiction is a bit toned along the upper edge and shows a faint reddish color mark upper left. The image size is equal to the sheet size of 24.6 x 16.4 cm.
