German painter and printmaker (1883–1970) who was a founding member of the Die Brucke group. Three untranslated TLSs in German, each one page, dated 1951–1952. All are to Pastor Wolf-Dieter Zimmermann in Berlin, who had solicited contributions for his publication entitled Unterwegs. Heckel first writes to thank Zimmermann for sending samples of the magazine and says that he intends to submit art when he is able. He then writes to send five photos he believes would be suitable for reproduction. In the third letter, Heckel thanks him for sending copies of the magazine in which his work was published. In overall fine condition, with light soiling and filing holes to left edges.
