Erfurt 1918 Dated Model 1914 Death's Head Marked Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with Matching Magazine

This is an example of a scarce "Totenkopf" Death's Head Luger pistol. Though later associated with Panzer units and the SS, the symbol was first used by the "Stormtrooper" trench raiding teams and flame thrower squads of the WWI. The "Lazy S" Death's Head is marked on the chamber above "1918", and the toggle is marked with the crown over "ERFURT". The right side of the barrel extension is marked with the three crown over Gothic letter proof marks, as well as the eagle firing proof. The "crown/RC" Erfurt proof mark is marked on most of the parts. The matching serial number is marked on the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, with the partial serial number "73" on most of the small parts, including the inside of each grip panel. The underside of the barrel is also marked with the bore diameter "8,83". Fixed sights, blue finish with straw colored small parts, nickel magazine with wooden base numbered to the gun and fitted with checkered walnut grips. Comes with a unmarked brown leather holster.

Gauge: 9 mm Luger
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut

Very fine as Arsenal refurbished/refinished with 75% blue finish remaining, showing some muzzle and high edge wear. Some abrasive has been used on the pistol overall, quite possibly to remove oxidation. Much of the straw color remains. The grips are fine with some minor wear and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The mechanics are fine. The holster is fair with moderate/heavy wear on the strap and magazine pouch cover, the snap is absent from the magazine pouch, the belt loop is a replacement and there is a hole in the toe.
