Equestrian statue
18th or 19th century, height 67 cm, width 44 cm, washed off wood by natural elements (water, sand), the whole surface is covered by a dusty patina. On the horse there are traces of a saddle, harness and stirrups, which were originally done in a low relief. The horse buttock and the plinth under the horse's abdomen are in a better condition; they were surely better protected. Provenance: Dogon - Mosi tribes (Mali - Burkina Faso), Starting Price: CZK 180,000; USD 5,271; EUR 5,989, Estimated price: (200,000 - 240,000) CZK., Regarding the level of grinding and washing off the statue can be considered even older; it may have originated from the 17th century, which is, however, difficult to prove (water and wind erosions are less effective in this area). The composition of the equestrian statue follows up a common type which could be found not only in Mosi but also in Dogon tribes and which appears already in ceramic statues from Djenne-Djeno in the 12th - 14th centuries.
