Original signed ballpoint and pencil sketch of the Enola Gay’s air escape plan on an off-white 8.5 x 11 sheet. Van Kirk has drawn the target and drop zone, plotted the return courses for both the Enola Gay and the Great Artist, and marked where the planes would experience the first and second shock waves of the blast. In the lower left corner he adds, “Altitude-30060 ft.; True Air Speed 3285 knots; above Hiroshima-43 seconds after release; Bank of turn-60°,” signing in the lower right corner, “Major Dutch Van Kirk, Navigator–Enola Gay, Hiroshima-6 Aug 1945.” In very fine condition.
