Museum quality engraving by Abel Lurat after the Carolus Duran painting "Portrait de Mme. La Comtesse de V." exhibited at the 1879 Salon. Abel Lurat was a 19th Century French engraver and etcher born in Orleans in 1829 and died in Paris 1890. Another copy of this same engraving is part of the collection of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. Carolus-Duran, also known as Charles-Auguste-Emile Durand, was a French academic painter (1838-1917) whose students included the famous American portrait painter John Singer Sargent. Overall toning, a few yellow spots and tears around the edges that can be concealed by a mat when framing. Additional photos available upon request.
