Engraved and Silver Inlaid European Half Stock Damascus Percussion Rifle
No makers marks (possibly German in origin) with a 44" Damascus barrel with silver inlaid relief chiseled floral patterns on the upper three flats at the breech and swamped muzzle ends. There is a recessed gold unrecognizable seal or proof on the top flat 3 1/2" from the breech. Crisp Damascus pattern with a blade front sight and three leaf (two folding) rear sight. The bottom of the barrel is fitted with two silver plated ramrod pipe, (ramrod absent), with a sling swivel mounted on the rear pipe. The lock and hammer are decorated with light floral engraving. Double set triggers, massive silver plated brass trigger guard and mounted with a walnut half stock with a silver forend cap, checkered area ahead of the trigger guard and wrist, cheekpiece, brass buttplate, patch box with walnut lid and a sling swivel.

Condition: Very good. The barrel shows some traces of original thin brown finish with a very crisp Damascus pattern. The hammer and lock have a smooth mottled gray patina. The silver and brass components have a dull flat aged patina. The set trigger doesn't hold, otherwise the action functions properly. The stock is fine with scattered minor dents and scratches. The engraving is crisp.
