Engraved and Silver Inlaid 18th Century European Percussion Conversion Rifle with Damascus Barrel an
Hooded pin front and notch rear sights, on the attractively Damascus etched barrel, marked in silver inlay "F.G.K. An 1764" on the top flat. The breech section has been cleanly removed and replaced, with a bolster-style nipple mount fitting cleanly into the flashpan area of the lock, which engraved with scenes of a doe and a stag seated in the woods, with scroll accents, and a similar scene in raised engraving on the brass reverse plate. The triggerguard is engraved with a scene of a buck being taken down by 3 dogs, with scrollwork on the finial and tang. Half length stock with attractive tiger stripe grain, with a brass tipped ramrod, brass forearm tip, engraved ramrod pipe, extensive raised carved scrollwork, raised cheekpiece, patchbox with carved boar on the wood lid and a brass buttplate with engraved scene of a bugler with dogs in the woods on the heel.

Condition: Very good. The barrel shows a dark brown color, with a mixed gray patina on the lockplate and some mild handling marks overall. The stock is fine, with minor pressure dents, a few small chips, and attractive grain. Mechanically very good.
