Engraved and Gold Inlaid Frederick Nowak Percussion Target Rifle with Silver Plate Accents
Produced in Prague. Blade front, notch rear and tang mounted fully adjustable folding peep sight, with a 3 3/5 inch long floral and scroll decorated silver panel at the muzzle, light engraving down the top and upper flats with repeated patterns of winged figures and checkered backgrounds, a 3 4/5 inch silver panel, similar to the first, ahead of the breech, which has a flower engraved on the top, gold border bands and a raised relief chiseled scene featuring a lady and a dog on the left side. Near-full coverage scroll and floral engraving on the frame, with scroll designs on the dog head hammer, a raised beast on the bolster, and "FR.NOWAK/ IN PRAG" inlaid in gold on top of the receiver. Double set triggers, with a finger rest guard. Full length stock, with a rounded tip followed by a flat on the underside, checkered forearm and wrist with raised carved scrolls and "crown/K" in a silver plate on the forearm and a right side thumb rest on the wrist, burl walnut grain on the butt with a raised cheekpiece, floral carved patch box lid and an engraved buttplate.

Condition: Fine. The barrel shows a mixed gray patina with mild spotting and handling marks, the silver components showing a fine aged patina and the gold strong. The frame has turned a smooth gray patina. Stock is very good, with two areas of lost material on and below the cheekpiece and light pressure dents and scratches overall. Mechanically fine.
