Engraved Winchester Model 1866 lever action rifle, signed “J.U.” for John Ulrich (1850-1924) on the left side of the upper tang, .44 cal., 24” barrel, blue finish, engraved brass frame with gold wash, leftside of the lower tang marked “G 0 XXX”, wood stocks, #38035. This gun came out of a ranch in the Northwest and is in overall un-cleaned good condition showing a dark brown patina on barrel and loading tube withscattered pin prick pitting, old classic replaced blade front sight; frame shows a lovely taffy colored patina with traces of gold wash in protected areas of engraving, action good, bore is overall fair and mayclean to good; fore end is well-worn with old losses at the rails and graining that indicates deluxe, butt stock is an old replacement and shows years of weathering and wear from carry and use; original engravedbrass butt plate retained and matching in condition with the frame; sling swivels present. A signed Ulrich engraved ’66 that has a great frontier appearance! Est.: $14,000-$18,000.
