This shotgun features a single brass bead front sight on a solid concave rib with a scroll engraving a the breech and marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND ST LONDON. WHITWORTH FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL", choke gauges cylinder/cylinder, chambered for 2 9/16 inch shells with ejectors that are numbered to the gun. The barrels are also numbered to the gun and proofed with the barrel flat marked with the numbers "17" and "16". The scalloped action, trigger guard, break lever and forearm hardware are nicely engraved with an extensive fine English scroll pattern. The sides of the action are marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS" in a banner and the top above the break lever is marked "WESTLEY RICHARDS/PATENT EJECTOR" with the underside having an engraved pair of hunting dogs in a scene and the fences having a deep relief vine engraving. The trigger is also engraved with a game bird scene and the lower tang has the serial number in a banner. The break lever, forearm hardware and rib have a gold inlaid number "2". Watertable is marked "DEELEY'S PATENT/EJECTOR 2742/ANSON & DEELEY'S/PATENT 11582" and has two proofs. Gold washed double triggers and engraved automatic tang safety with "SAFE" in gold. Nicely figured checkered straight grip stock with a blank silver initial oval and checkered bare butt with scroll engraved heal and toe plates. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.

Condition: Refinished. The barrels retain 90% plum blue finish. The break lever, trigger guard, receiver plate and butt plates retain 90% blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The receiver has faded to a smooth gray patina. The wood is also excellent with a few minor handling marks and retaining most of the revarnish that is beginning to craze. The checkering is crisp overall. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent.
