Gilles Mariette manufactured pepperbox weapons, as well as pinfire revolvers circa 1832 to 1865. The frame is engraved with fine scroll and border engraving and the front strap directly behind the trigger is inscribed 'W.B. Promoli". The barrel cluster is made up of six 6 Damascus pattern barrels with 4 groove rifling and numbered "1" through "6" to match the marking on the breech area, which has heavy nipple shields, one of which bears the Liege "E/ LG/ star" proof. 14 1/2 inches overall in length. Underbarrel ring trigger action, with mobile shield designed to reduce the possibility of a chain fire. Mounted within the center of the barrels, in the location of the axis screw, is a triangular dagger, extending 5" past the muzzles. Fitted with smooth ebony grips. Complete with a black pebble grain leather wrapped metal scabbard with bright metal throat and tip.

Very good. There is a bright appearance on the frame and half of the light original Damascus pattern remains on the barrels, with some scattered spotting and handling marks. The dagger blade shows some discoloration. The grips are slightly undersized and remain fine with a few light pressure dents. The scabbard is fine with crisp leather remaining showing a number of scuffs and the throat and tip show some discoloration. The engraving and inscription are clear. Mechanically fine.
