Manufactured in 1890 and subsequently custom embellished and modified to its current configuration. The revolver features approximately 50% coverage of floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the barrel, ejector housing, frame, cylinder flats, trigger guard and grip straps. There are simple line designs on the top strap, top of the ejector housing, and sunbursts on the trigger guard and back strap shoulders. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, "38 W.C.F." on the left and the left side of the frame is marked with the three line, three patent dates followed by "US". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. "R.A.C." inspection mark is marked above the serial number on the frame and there is a "K" below the other two serial numbers. Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, all nickel finish with niter blue trigger and hammer with polished sides and fitted with a one-piece ivory grip with a carved Mexican eagle on the right side. The accompanying factory letter verifies that serial number "133811" was a "45/c", blue finish with the barrel length and grips as "Not Listed" at the time it was shipped as 1 of 150 to the U.S. Government Inspector at the Colt plant on July 3, 1890. Remarks state that walnut stocks and 7 1/2 inch barrel were considered standard issue for that time period.
