The included factory letter confirms serial number, caliber, barrel length, adjustable target rear sight, with the finish listed as blue and grips listed as hard rubber. It states that the revolver was shipped on January 23, 1907 and delivered to Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co., Boston, MA. and the scrollwork is most likely a factory engraving (Roy Jinks, S&W historian states, "It is my opinion based on the photographs that this revolver was engraved by the Smith & Wesson factory".) with the ivory grips (some hairline cracks) being an aftermarket addition. Backstrap and butt are cut for a shoulder stock.
