Engraved Smith & Wesson Model 1 1/2 Second Issue Revolver with Ivory Grips
Manufactured from 1868 to 1875, this revolver was possibly engraved by L.D. Nimschke (or his shop) and features floral scroll and punch dot designs on the sides of the frame, backstrap and cylinder flats. The sides of the barrel lug are decorated with a diamond and diamond and dot design, the sides of the barrel have a feather design flanked by floral scroll and the top of the rib has a scalloped border around the one line address and 1855, '59 and '65 patent dates. The serial number is marked on the butt. Blade front and notch rear sights, nickel finish with casehardened hammer and fitted with smooth ivory grips.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 90% of the original nickel finish with scattered flaking and edge wear. The hammer shows traces of the original case colors with a smooth dark patina on the balance. The grips are also very fine with a nice grain and aged to a pleasant caramel patina. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
