Engraved Smith & Wesson “Baby Russian” Model spur trigger revolver, .38 cal., 3-1/4” barrel, nickel finish, ivory grips, #12984. This gun is in overall good condition showing traces of original nickel finish in some protected areas with the balance of the metal surfaces gone to a dark brown patina; the engraving is of a high quality etching, similar to Tiffany’s work, showing elaborate scroll work on the frame, cylinder and barrel assembly complete with panel scenes of a horseman with gun drawn galloping on the side plate of the frame and two other horseman, one in chase of the other on the left side of the barrel; the right side of the barrel shows a hunting scene with a dog pursuing a stag. The action is good, markings are sharp on the top of the barrel and the bore is dark. The ivory grips have a beautiful mellow color and show wear and an old worn dimple on the bottom of the left grip. A really high grade etched period work of art. Est.: $2,000-$2,500.
