Produced circa 1859 - 1874. Brass post and breechblock groove rear sights, produced without extractor. Straight standing breech, with "C. SHARPS/ PATENT 1859" on the left side around the screw and "C. SHARPS & Co/ PHILADA. PA." on the right. The frame and barrels are decorated with punch dot backed scroll engraving, with burst patterns on the butt and intersecting lines on the back strap. Writer believes this to be of the period, but most likely not factory. Grips are smooth two piece ivory, with an extra pair of smooth ivory grips.
